Things to do in the Creuse!

 

The Creuse is a quiet department but there are a lot of fun things to do. In terms of sports, besides cycling, mountain biking, trail running and hiking, you can also take it easy by going fishing, golfing or just walking. If you want an activity, you can choose swimming, paintball, climbing, gliding or karting. 

Nearby is the famous Thermes and Spa Wellness area of ​​Evaux-les-bains , and the Regional Natural Park Millevaches en Limousin and the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park.  A little further away at an hour’s drive are the Monts de Guéret and for the activities in that area there is even a special app developed for both iOS  and  Android .

Cycling and Mountain Biking in the Creuse:

The Creuse is a beautiful arrondissement for cycle routes and also for the sporty cyclist and for the mountain biker. You can of course easily set out routes yourself and in the meantime many other cyclists have also recorded their cycled kilometers in the well-known cycling and route planning apps. If you opt for a multi-day tour for the road cyclist, there is the 300 km long Tour de la Creuse à vélo which covers the entire arrondissement Creuse .

The Creuse also has   some 2300 km of MTB routes. A fantastic route for MTB (or VVT in French) is La Grande Traversée VTT de la Creuse .

That is 168 km in 4 stages for the experienced MTB-er. On the website of Tourisme Creuse you will also find MTB routes of different lengths, both nearby and further away. Les Monts de Guéret is a very nice area for MTB-ing with 40 routes for beginners to advanced. Look here for more information and the routes. In the same area you can also walk, climb or you can visit the wolf park which is about 59 km from the B&B, a short 50 minute drive.

 

Walking in the Creuse:

There are plenty of hiking trails in the Creuse . The hilly, agricultural landscape interspersed with forest and water, streams and lakes offers plenty of variety. Routes run via quiet roads and dirt roads, but also on narrow steep paths and through water. Both seasoned hikers and those who want to walk a bit with small children will find what they are looking for in the Creuse . The prepared hiker will of course ensure that he has a good hiking map or GPS device. In our B&B we have sufficient additional information such as folders with / and maps.

Water in the Creuse:

Fish:

There are plenty of fishing spots to be found in the Creuse . There are rivers and lakes with a very different habitat. So you can fish for pike and perch but also trout and salmon. For fishing you can go to fishing in the Creuse  and  fly fishing reservoir for good fishing spots and all information about fishing in the Creuse . You need a carte de péché to be allowed to fish which is available at the tourist center.

Swimming:

Op 30 min afstand ligt een heerlijk strandje bij Saint-Éloy-les-Mines met een strandtentje en waar je in de schaduw tussen de bomen kan luieren, zonnen en zwemmen. Leuk voor de kids en het hele gezin. Iets verder weg op een uurtje rijden is bijvoorbeeld Le Bourg-d’Hem waar in een verbreding van de Creuse het water rustig is en waar je goed kunt zwemmen, kanoën of waterfietsen. Er is ook een strandje en strandtent. Maar er zijn natuurlijk meer zwemlocaties zoals Lac de Chambon bij Crozant of bij Fresselines, of bij La Base de Loisirs.

 

 

Paardrijden, Paintball:

In heel de Creuse kun je als paardenliefhebber tochten maken. Cheval En Creuse of toerisme de creuse paarden is daarbij handig.

Golfen in de Creuse:

Bij Hotel Domaine d’Orangerie in Bonnat is een 9-hole baan en ben je op zoek naar een grotere uitdaging, dan kun je naar Golf de la Jonchere voor een 18-hole baan op een terrein van 120 ha vlakbij Gouzon ong 45 minuten verderop. Iets dichterbij en op ongeveer een half uur rijden is er Golf des Dryades, gelegen aan de toepasselijk Rue du Golf van 18 holes, een prachtige Spa  met restaurant. Als je er een dagje uit van wil maken maar niet te lang onderweg wilt zijn dan kun je ook terecht bij Golf de Sainte Agathe,  Golf Club Val de l’Indre,  Golf des Sarrays, Golf de Mortemart of Golf de la Porcelain.

 

 

Casino in de Creuse:

In het dorpje onderaan de berg van de B&B genaamd Evaux-les-bains is de mogelijkheid om je te laten gaan bij het lokale en druk bezochte Casino Partouche.

Een gezellig avond samen met een drankje en een hapje voor wat onschuldig vertier, na een lange dag van actief bezig zijn op het platteland als agrariër of lekker luieren in de zon en rustige omgeving als toerist, is hier een alledaags verschijnsel.

 

 

Karten en / of Auto racen:

Karting and car racing are among the possibilities in the Creuse . Karting is nearby in Quinsainnes at Dynamic Kart, half an hour’s drive away. Perfect outing for the kids and the whole family. For racing, you can rent a time slot a little further away on this great race track of former driver Pierre Petit. The track is very spectacular and is located near Bonnat.

 

 

 

Canoeing:

Canoeing: the fairly fast flowing Sioule is an experience. You can board at several places. You can go in a single person kayak or a multi-person Canadian canoe. It requires some skill, but it is doable for anyone between 7 and 77. How well the river is navigable and how fast it flows depends on the rainfall. If it is too dry, the river is not navigable. If it rains too much, the Sioule flows very fast. A boarding place near the Roman bridge of Menat is that of Sioule Loisirs

The Creuse from the air:

The Aérodrome de Guéret Saint-Laurent, is a good place to explore the Creuse from the air on a nice day. The Aérodrome is a glider airfield run by Les Planeurs en Creuse and is open all week in July and August, except during the summer holidays only at weekends. Contact this glider club if you want to fly or join a glider.

 

Spa and Thermal Baths:

Known as Thermes and Spa Wellness area is in Evaux-les-bains , at the bottom of the mountain 10 minutes from the B&B, the famous spa in France can be found where many Frenchmen and certainly also women are pampered or treated on doctor’s prescription by the experienced and specialized Wellness possibilities, which you can book online in advance via the link below.
